Allan Saint-Maximin tweets two words as Newcastle beat Brentford

Saturday’s win over Brentford was a huge one for Newcastle United.

While there will surely be more eye-catching results to come over the course of this season, Newcastle lifted some of the pressure on them with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.

A Callum Wilson penalty, after he had a goal harshly ruled out, was enough to send the Bees back to London with nothing while ensuring Eddie Howe’s side go into Tuesday’s Champions League clash with AC Milan off the back of a win.

It may not have been pretty but it was a crucial win and one man took note.

Indeed, a certain Allan Saint-Maximin reacted with joy.

Fresh from scoring his first goal for Al Ahli after leaving the club for the Saudi Arabian side, the Frenchman was pleased to see his former teammates get the job done.

Responding to the club’s tweet, Saint-Maximin wrote: “LET’S GO!!!” accompanied by a number of love hearts.

Things have moved on – but Saint-Maximin will be missed
It’d be fair to say things never really clicked for the winger under Howe at St James’.

So often the one shining light the team had to offer during the bleak years towards the end of the Mike Ashley era as Steve Bruce struggled in the dugout, the former Nice star was a popular figure.

While things have moved on now and Newcastle are much more focused on the collective rather than relying on individual brilliance to rescue them, that’s not to say the 26-year-old won’t be missed.

Clearly someone who loves the club, it’s fantastic to see him celebrate a big victory. He was an important part of the journey to get to the takeover in the first place, after all.
