Just In: Leeds United boss Daniel Farke issue Djed Spence injury update after millwall

Daniel Farke confirms “sad news” with major Leeds United injury setback.
Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed a major setback for right-back Djed Spence as he missed out in the 3-0 win at Millwall with a knee issue.

The Whites have their second win of the season as Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter ran riot at the New Den to win 3-0, sealing back-to-back clean sheets in the process.

Luke Ayling started again for Leeds as Djed Spence came out of the international break with an injury issue.

What’s the latest on Spence?

Spence was initially revealed by Daniel Farke as a doubt for the game today, indicating that the club weren’t entirely sure on his knee injury picked up recently.

However, after a 3-0 win at the New Den, Farke has shared bad news for the club, with Spence out for the foreseeable due to ligament damage (via Beren Cross):

“Sadly, sad news with Spence because Djed has done his lateral ligament. Out for several weeks. No surgery needed, but wait for the assessment.”

While there is seemingly no surgery required for the right-back, such a setback will see him out for a prolonged period, it looks like.

Gutting news.

Ayling was much better today in a game that was a serious test for him defensively, but he held his own and set up a number of attacks too.

However, Spence would be one of the best in his position in the league and it doesn’t help us building momentum to have him out.

We need our luck to turn with injuries.
