Pedro Neto send three words message to teammate after Liverpool defeat

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Pedro Neto has urged his team-mates to ‘grow up’ following their defeat to Liverpool.

Gary O’Neil’s team were the better side during the opening 45 minutes of the contest at Molineux on Saturday afternoon. Neto provided the assist as Hwang Hee-chan opened the scoring.

However, following a tactical tweak by Jurgen Klopp at the break, Liverpool dominated the encounter in the second half and went on to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Goals from Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson swung the game in the Reds’ favour before Hugo Bueno diverted Harvey Elliott’s strike past his own goalkeeper in stoppage time.

Reacting to the defeat, Neto sent a blunt message to his team-mates, saying: “We have to be more aggressive; against these teams we cannot concede easily.

“It was a tough one. The first half, we dominated the game, and we come out with zero points. We have to continue to work, and we have to grow up.

“In the second half, we didn’t have the chance to arrive to their goal; we didn’t do what we did in the first half or control the ball. It’s tough after that first half to concede three goals; it’s really hard.”

Before he added: “They put more guys in front; we had to adapt better, and we didn’t do what we did in the first half, when we controlled all the game with the ball.

“It’s tough to do this first half and in the second half concede three goals; it’s really difficult.”
