Alan Shearer sends five word message to Kieran Trippier ahead of Champions League clash

Alan Shearer believes Kieran Trippier will have the final word in the Kylian Mbappe Champions League duel Newcastle United face PSG in the Champions League, with Mbappe the star for the French champions.

All eyes will be on St. James’ Park in midweek to watch how Newcastle United deal with one of the world’s best footballers, but Alan Shearer believes Kieran Trippier will come out on top. PSG and Kylian Mbappe will most likely be the most difficult test of the Magpies Champions League group of death, with the French champions among the favorites to win the league overall.

Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid in the summer after rejecting a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window. He is human, despite being one of the best players in the world.

The French forward drew a blank on his return from injury in PSG’s 0-0 draw with Clermont Foot, but will be aiming to make a statement on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid scouts are expected to be present.

“Yeah, there’s something happening on Wednesday evening, an important team, player, game coming to St. James’ Park, Champions League, PSG and [Kylian] Mbappe!” Shearer stated on The Rest is Football podcast.

“Who’s going to mark Mbappe, Alan?” co-host Gary Lineker questioned the legendary Magpies striker.

“[Kieran] Trippier will make him out of the game!” he responded.

Newcastle fans will be hoping Shearer’s prediction comes true, and they are correct to have faith in the England international, who has established himself as one of the club’s greatest right-backs in recent years. Trippier has already faced up against Mbappe on several occasions, including in Tottenham’s 2015/16 Europa League win over Monaco.

A year later, France defeated England 3-2 in an international friendly, with Trippier starting at right wing back and Mbappe failing to score once again.
