Newcastle talented player set to be rewarded with significant new contract

For Newcastle United, the players Eddie Howe inherited from Steve Bruce continue to dazzle.

One of the most surprising features of Newcastle’s quick turnaround under Howe has been his ability to produce significant improvements from squad members who were there when he arrived in November 2021.

Joelinton, Miguel Almiron, Fabian Schar, and Joe Willock have all performed admirably under his tutelage, while Sean Longstaff deserves special recognition.

Longstaff suffered under Bruce after large money links with Manchester United, similar to Michael Carrick during his initial breakthrough.

The 25-year-old, who is now firing on all cylinders, scored against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Sean Longstaff in line for new contract with Newcastle United

According to The Chronicle, the midfielder will sign a new contract at St James’ Park.

They claim Longstaff will continue at his boyhood club for an extended period of time with a much enhanced contract. He is set to receive new terms on the deal he signed in 2022, which now runs through the summer of 2025.

Longstaff is a crucial part of Newcastle’s set-up

Longstaff is an important part of Newcastle’s midfield, as he plays alongside two of the club’s most costly signings, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

So much so that commentator Jamie Redknapp recently hailed his return from injury as the reason Newcastle’s form has risen so dramatically following a brief slump earlier this season. He not only scored against PSG, but he also performed admirably away at AC Milan.

Howe has repeatedly praised the midfielder’s ability to play with both feet, calling him “unique.” Longstaff, an incredibly important element of Newcastle’s strongest squad in years, more than deserves a reward.

It’s the stuff of dreams for a local kid like me.
