West Ham United injury news ahead of the Premier League fixture versus Newcastle United.
West Ham United could be without Michail Antonio for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United (kick-off 2pm).
Antonio missed the Hammers’ 2-1 win away to Freiburg on Thursday night along with defensive duo Aaron Cresswell and Benjamin Johnson.
Moyes has confirmed the latter two are unlikely to recover in time to face the Magpies while Antonio’s availability will be decided closer to the game.
I will need to see [if Michail is available],” said the Hammers boss, “He’s not trained yet. “He has done some running with the medical team, so over the next couple of days we will see if he is able to play.”
Newcastle will also make a late call on Antonio’s BBC Footballers Football Podcast co-host Callum Wilson.
Wilson, who has 12 goals in his last 13 Premier League fixture versus West Ham, has missed the last three matches versus Manchester City, Burnley and Paris Saint-Germain because of hamstring tightness.
The 31-year-old scored twice on his last visit to the London Stadium as Newcastle won 5-1. Another player to score a brace that night was Joelinton, who is also facing a late fitness test.
Howe, speaking at his pre-match press conference, said: “The injury list doesn’t look great but I don’t think, touch wood, apart from Harvey [Harvey Barnes] that there is anything long-term there but maybe some short-term pain for us. We’ll have and see how Callum [Wilson] & Joelinton are. They’re probably the closest.
United will be without in-form winger Anthony Gordon through suspension after he reached five yellow cards this season. Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock remain sidelined while Emil Krafth works his way back from an ACL injury.
