Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at St James’ Park until June 2025.
“It means everything to me to play for this club and sign a new contract,” Burn, who arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2022, told the club’s official website. “I said when I signed that I didn’t want this to be just a’stop-gap’ signing to keep us going – I wanted to be here for a long time.”
“For me, signing this one feels like even more of an accomplishment than signing here in the first place.” I’m overjoyed and excited for the next few seasons.”
Burn, who played in all 38 Premier League games for his boyhood club last season, has also been a constant this season, scoring one goal.
Eddie Howe, the head coach, was overjoyed to have secured the defender’s services for a lengthy period of time.
“Dan is a leader on and off the pitch so we are delighted he has extended his stay with us,” Howe added. “He is an important member of our squad and has played a significant role in our progress since his arrival.”
“He knows exactly what it means to represent this great club and is hungry to succeed, and that can only help the team and the club going forward.”
Newcastle will play Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 21, hoping to make it five wins in their past six Premier League games.
