JUST IN: AC Milan lining up €40m move for fantastic player

AC Milan is making plans for the future, and Jonathan David is the striker they want to lead the line for years to come.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Milan has admired Jonathan David for years, but they made a late attempt to recruit him in the summer, two years before his contract expires.

Lille didn’t give Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada any encouragement, instead promising to talk about David again later, prompting the Rossoneri directors to sign Luka Jovic instead.

Milan are eager to revisit the Canada international since Olivier Giroud is 37 years old, Noah Okafor is not a natural No.9, and Jovic was a gamble.

There is a chance that the David negotiations will begin in January rather than the summer. He has only two goals in eight league games and two more in the Conference League, although he had 24 league goals last season.

David is speedy, scores goals, provides assists, and shoots with both his right and left hands. He won a title with Mike Maignan, but at 23 years old, he still has a lot to learn and grow.

Given that David’s contract expires in 2025, it is likely that the €60m asking price of the summer will be reduced to approximately €40m, a figure that Milan sees as much more reachable.

At least one approach will be made in January, while the player is interested in a move to Milan and believes it would be a nice step forward for him.
