Mansfield Town boss Nigel Clough issue a four word message to his players ahead of Forest Green clash

Nigel Clough, the manager of Mansfield Town, is cautious about the upcoming challenge from Forest Green Rovers, emphasizing that they won’t be easy opponents. Mansfield Town, riding high on a remarkable 17-game unbeaten streak, is gearing up for their home clash with second-bottom Forest Green Rovers this Saturday.

Their season reached new heights when they secured an impressive 4-1 victory in a local derby against league leaders Notts County, pushing Stags into the top three. Despite this success, Clough remains level-headed, stating, “It’s a long season, and we won’t get carried away in October as we’ve not even played a third of the games yet.”

He further highlighted the significance of their unbeaten streak, noting, “Being 17 games unbeaten I think is more of an achievement than just the one-off on Saturday.” Clough acknowledged the importance of draws, saying, “This is where the draws are important as well.” Winning games not only accumulates points but also helps maintain their unbeaten status.

Reflecting on their journey, Clough stated, “We have been building for nearly three years, gradually improving along the way with better players and better performances.” He emphasized that going unbeaten from the start of the season is a remarkable feat.

Clough also acknowledged the potential threat posed by Forest Green Rovers, despite their recent struggles, especially with Troy Deeney in their lineup. He noted, “It is a very dangerous game for us,” cautioning against underestimating their opponents based on league positions.

Furthermore, Clough mentioned the absence of Baily Cargill due to a yellow card suspension and the choice to field Lewis Brunt in his place. This situation presents its challenges, but Mansfield Town remains focused on extending their unbeaten run.

In summary, Mansfield Town is mindful of the challenges posed by Forest Green Rovers and the need to stay grounded despite their impressive unbeaten streak, emphasizing the importance of consistency throughout the season.
