Sunderland star wins Player of the Match award on international duty

Trai Hume was named player of the match for Northern Ireland’s match against Slovenia on Tuesday night.

Northern Ireland were defeated 1-0 by Slovenia at Windsor Park Friday night after being reduced to ten men in the 58th minute.

Northern Ireland couldn’t overcome Shea Charles’ second yellow, but he’ll feel stupid for his first.

Early on, he was booked for dissent for arguing about the free kick from which Slovenia eventually won the game.

Despite the loss, there was a very spectacular Black Cat in action.

Trai Hume was awarded man of the match in the game, according to the official Sunderland website.

Despite the Green and White army’s defeat, Hume was outstanding.

According to SofaScore, Hume won seven duels in the game, proving to be a difficult opponent for the Slovenian left winger.

He was outstanding defensively, earning six tackles and making a clearance.

He also had 61 touches on the ball and completed 83% of his passes.

The performance exemplifies how good Hume has been in red and white this season on an international platform.

Tony Mowbray will be buoyed by the performance as the Championship enters a crucial month.

Sunderland play Stoke City on Saturday, with a win allowing them to leapfrog Preston North End and move into third place.

Dan Ballard, Hume’s international and club teammate, missed the game and will be in a race to be fit for the game on Saturday.
