Awoniyi, Montiel, Aurier – Nottingham Forest injury update provided ahead of Luton Town clash

In the latest Nottingham Forest updates, Steve Cooper’s team is gearing up for their Premier League showdown with Luton Town.

Nottingham Forest’s forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, is making good progress in his rehabilitation from an injury. He sustained a groin issue during the match against Brentford, causing him to miss the game against Crystal Palace just before the international break. Although he’s expected to be sidelined for approximately a month, there is optimism that he will soon return to training.

Nottingham Forest may also have to contend with the absence of full-back Gonzalo Montiel in the upcoming clash with Luton Town. Montiel was forced to leave the field while representing his country against Peru this week.

Serge Aurier’s availability for the Hatters match is uncertain as well. He was substituted at halftime during the 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.

Steve Cooper, the head coach, remarked, “He’s only just returned to the country.” He added, “We’ll assess it ourselves. We’ve reviewed the initial scans, and it appears to be a calf injury.”

“The players who were already injured before that game remain in their current state, not participating in training,” Cooper continued. “While we wish for everyone to be fit, that’s not always the case. We’ll prepare for the game with the players at our disposal.”

Regarding Montiel’s condition, Cooper said, “Gonzalo has only recently returned, so we’ll have the medical staff thoroughly assess it to determine the extent of the injury. Hopefully, it’s not as severe as it may appear. It appears to be a muscle injury, but we’ll wait for further evaluation.”

Cooper also mentioned, “Taiwo is making good progress. He’s not too far from resuming training, so we’ll see how the next week progresses leading up to the game after Saturday.”

Several other players, including Ola Aina (muscle), Nuno Tavares (groin), Danilo (hamstring), and Felipe (knee), have been dealing with injuries. Cooper’s squad will be hosting Luton at the City Ground, aiming to end a four-game winless streak.
