West Ham United star Michail Antonio playfully teased Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson for his shirtless training pictures during the international break. Antonio humorously expressed his “disgust” upon seeing images of Wilson without a shirt at Newcastle’s training camp in Dubai. Wilson, however, responded on The Footballer’s Football Podcast by explaining the circumstances behind the photos and mentioned that he felt good about his appearance, disregarding Antonio’s comments.
During the international break, several Newcastle players took the opportunity for warm-weather training in the United Arab Emirates. Wilson, who had recently recovered from a hamstring injury, was observed training individually at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai. Other players, such as Paul Dummett, Elliot Anderson, and Jacob Murphy, also participated in training sessions.
Wilson had posted photos of himself training in Dubai with just a GPS vest, instead of wearing a shirt, prompting Antonio’s humorous remark on the Footballer’s Football Podcast. Wilson explained that they had to monitor their heart rates daily due to the extreme heat, causing them to sweat profusely as soon as they stepped outside. One day, the complex staff asked if they could take some photographs, and Wilson, along with other players, continued with their training while the photos were taken. Wilson playfully shrugged off Antonio’s comments, noting that he was quite pleased with how he looked in the pictures.
