Nottingham forest provides injury blow ahead of Luton Town clash as three key players are unlikely to play

Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest is “progressing well” in his return from injury.

The Reds striker was injured in the draw with Brentford and missed the game against Crystal Palace right before the international break. He is expected to be out for roughly a month, although he might be back in training soon.

Forest may also be without full-back Gonzalo Montiel for the match against Luton Town on Saturday. The Argentine was dragged from the field during his country’s match against Peru this week.

Serge Aurier is also doubtful to face the Hatters. He was substituted at halftime of the 0-0 tie at Selhurst Park.

“He’s only just got back in the country,” stated head coach Steve Cooper of Montiel. “We’ll evaluate it ourselves.” We’ve seen the preliminary scans, and it appears to be a calf injury.

“Serge walked away from Crystal Palace.” He had an injury there.

“The guys that were injured prior to the game are still injured. They are not currently in training.

“You want everyone to fit, but that’s not always the case.” We’ll prepare for the game with the players we have.

“Gonzalo has only recently returned, so we’ll have to get the medics to properly assess it so we can see the extent of it.” Hopefully, it’s not as horrible as it could be. It appears to be a muscular injury, but we’ll have to wait and see.

“Taiwo is making good progress. He’s not far from any training, so we’ll see how the next week goes before the game on Saturday.”

The Reds have been without Ola Aina (muscle), Nuno Tavares (groin), Danilo (hamstring), and Felipe (knee). Cooper’s men travel to the City Ground to face Luton Town, hoping to win their first game in four.
