Charlton Athletic manager Michael Appleton has cautioned that if Reading is allowed to play their usual style of football, they could pose a significant threat to his team. Under Appleton’s leadership, the Addicks have been displaying consistent performances and are now aiming to improve their position in the League One standings. Today, Appleton’s squad is scheduled to face Reading at the Valley, with their opponents also eager to reverse their fortunes after a challenging start to the league season.
“The manager of Charlton praised Ruben Selles’ team for their hard work on the field and cautioned that if Charlton allows Reading to execute their game plan, it could lead to difficulties in the match.
“He emphasized that Reading is a strong team when given the opportunity to play, based on what he has observed in their recent three games. They have the potential to be quite dangerous if you fall into their game plan.
“Reading boasts some talented young players and handles the ball well.
“The Addicks manager also emphasized the importance of sticking to their own on-field strategy to achieve positive results in the game. He stressed that the outcome depends on Charlton’s performance, not just the opponent.
“He highlighted Charlton’s strong mentality and aggression, both in possession and without the ball, over the past six weeks and expressed the need to maintain that in the upcoming game.
“The last encounter between the two teams in the Championship took place in 2020, where Reading won against Charlton with a one-nil victory.
