The Sydney Roosters have made a significant move to secure the futures of Nat Butcher and Naufahu Whyte by signing them to long-term contracts, preventing them from becoming free agents after November 1. According to reports from the Daily Telegraph, these two players will be staying with the Roosters for the next three years.
Nat Butcher, who boasts 126 games and a Prime Minister’s XIII cap, has solidified his place within the Roosters’ roster, earning recognition for his contributions to the team.
While Butcher has become a regular part of the Roosters’ setup, Naufahu Whyte’s impressive performance in 2023 has earned him an extension and a spot in the Kiwis squad. The Auckland-born forward showcased his abilities in nine games for the Roosters this season, averaging an impressive 90 running meters per game.
It’s worth noting that Naufahu Whyte isn’t the only emerging talent to be rewarded by the Roosters, as young winger Junior Pauga has also signed a two-year top 30 contract. Junior Pauga, a 27-year-old, initially joined the Roosters on a train-and-trial deal at the start of 2023 after a brief stint with the Wests Tigers.
