Tony Mowbray, the manager of Sunderland, is the most recent opponent manager to predict Leicester City will win the Championship.
Tuesday night’s 1-0 victory over Mowbray’s Black Cats at King Power Stadium put the Foxes eight points clear atop the standings. Early in the first half, James Justin gave Enzo Maresca’s team the lead.
After being relegated at the end of the previous season, City is seemingly unstoppable in their quest to return to the Premier League, having won 12 of their past 13 games. Furthermore, Mowbray believes the title race is already finished.
“We thought we could come here and win the game; we missed some really good opportunities,” he stated. I challenged the players to test their desire to play in the Premier League one day.
We simply lacked the poise needed at the top of the pitch, despite the fact that we competed incredibly well. We will win enough games if that is the level we perform at each week.
“We’re not finishing above Leicester City; I think Leicester will win the league. Burnley had the same amount of points as we do at this point last season; the results will take care of themselves. We put a lot of work into defending set-plays because we’re not a huge team; a free header has cost us two games in a row. We basically need to improve the end product.”
