Just In: Two new Sunderland injury issues emerge in wake of Leicester City defeat

Sunderland’s Adil Aouchiche and Bradley Dack sustained injuries, as confirmed by manager Tony Mowbray. Both players were absent from the squad during Sunderland’s 1-0 loss to Leicester City. These injuries occurred when they came on as second-half substitutes in the previous match against Stoke. Aouchiche has a groin injury, while Dack has hamstrings damage. Consequently, they were not included in the Black Cats’ lineup for the game at King Power Stadium.

Their availability for the upcoming home match against Norwich City remains uncertain. Mowbray explained, “Adil is dealing with a groin injury, and Dack has a hamstring issue. As they are injured, they are unfit to play.”

Before the King Power game, there were concerns about Dan Ballard’s fitness. The Northern Ireland international had not trained all week after the previous game, raising doubts about his participation. However, he was deemed fit to play just before kick-off. Mowbray mentioned, “Dan didn’t practice throughout the week, and we weren’t sure he would play on Monday. I had a conversation with him about the days when nobody used scans. I asked Dan how he felt, whether he was injured or not. He admitted to feeling a bit sore but displayed a warrior-like spirit, delivering an excellent performance.”
