The Los Angeles Rams are not expected to be active at the upcoming NFL trade deadline, as reported. Head coach Sean McVay had previously mentioned the need for resources and other factors to make significant trades possible, and this aligns with information from The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue. In conversations with team and league sources, there is a prevailing sense that the Rams won’t be very active at the trade deadline unless an unexpected and compelling proposition arises from another team.
The report also suggests that the Rams may receive inquiries from other organizations regarding their own players, such as wide receiver Van Jefferson, who saw limited playing time in Week 5. Additionally, there has been preliminary interest in offensive lineman Joe Noteboom, who signed a $40 million extension last offseason but did not play in a recent game.
Given the Rams’ desire to retain their top resources, it is unlikely that they will make significant moves unless presented with a highly attractive and unavoidable deal. Fans should not anticipate the Rams trading away first-round picks for a star player.
While there has been some interest in Joe Noteboom, it is more likely that any potential trade involving him would occur after the season, as he currently serves as valuable depth on the Rams’ offensive line. Sacrificing offensive line depth at this point in the season may not make sense.
The Rams do have specific needs, particularly at positions like edge rusher, cornerback, and left tackle. However, it appears that these needs will likely be addressed during the offseason rather than at the trade deadline.
