‘Could be in for a goal-fest’ – The72’s writers makes ‘ bold’ prediction ahead Charlton Athletic vs Bolton Wanderers clash

Before Saturday afternoon’s League One match, The72’s writers anticipate the outcome between Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers.
Lincoln City, Michael Appleton’s former team, ended Charlton Athletic boss Michael Appleton’s winning streak on Tuesday night. The Imps won 3-1 thanks to an outstanding display from interim manager Tom Shaw.

Because of their impressive home record at The Valley, the Addicks are now ranked 13th in the rankings, but they will be focusing on winning this weekend.

But Bolton Wanderers is a formidable test that lies ahead. The Trotters have now won four of their previous five League One games, even if Ian Evatt’s team hasn’t quite lived up to the hype just yet.

“Charlton was going to be sad that their incredible run was coming to an end this week. This weekend’s match against Bolton will also be difficult for them.

“After only one loss in their previous five games, Evatt’s team is beginning to click. The visitors might have to settle for a point given the Addicks’ good home record, but they’ll want to really get a run going to crack into the automatic promotion spots.

We’ve seen how dangerous Charlton can be, and since Bolton’s defense isn’t always the tightest, this game might end in goals. My prediction is a 2-2 draw.

Given that both sides have been playing well lately and are aware of where the back of the net is, this may be the most thrilling League One match of the weekend.

“Appleton, though Evatt’s Bolton are undoubtedly a bigger, and far different test than Lincoln City, will be anxious for a response after losing 3-1 at former club Lincoln City in midweek.

“Either team can win this one, but I’m rooting for Bolton because they’ve recently had some strong away performances.”
