Danilo, Felipe, Elanga – Nottingham Forest injury update provided ahead of Liverpool clash

In the latest Nottingham Forest news, head coach Steve Cooper is concerned about the availability of Anthony Elanga as the team prepares to take on Liverpool in a Premier League match. Nottingham Forest is coming off a frustrating 2-2 draw against Luton Town, extending their winless streak to five games in the season, with only 10 points from their first nine matches.

Elanga, who provided both assists in the Luton game, might miss the upcoming match due to illness. This potential absence further limits Cooper’s attacking options, as Divock Origi is dealing with a hip injury, Callum Hudson-Odoi has a hamstring issue, and striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been sidelined since suffering a groin problem against Brentford.

Cooper expressed his frustration, especially in the offensive department, where the team lacks options due to player availability issues. He mentioned Anthony’s illness and the uncertainty surrounding his availability, even if he can play, it’s unsure if he can start. Cooper acknowledged Elanga’s excellent performance against Luton and highlighted the physical demands of Premier League matches.

Nottingham Forest still has some players on the injury list, including Gonzalo Montiel with a calf injury. However, Nuno Tavares, a full-back, along with midfielder Danilo (hamstring) and center-back Felipe (knee), have participated in training this week. Felipe hasn’t made a first-team appearance this season, and Danilo has been sidelined since his early exit against Chelsea, while Tavares was substituted during the Manchester City match.

Cooper noted that these players have returned to partial training, which includes warm-ups and non-contact exercises. He emphasized the need for caution when integrating Danilo back into the team, considering his extended absence. Cooper also mentioned the significance of Felipe’s impact on the team, highlighting his absence and expressing hope that his return would be a valuable addition for everyone.
