The Los Angeles Rams have mostly operated in a “win-now” mode for the majority of Aaron Donald’s career, especially since Sean McVay became the head coach in 2017, during Donald’s fourth NFL season. During this period, the Rams have been bold in trading players and draft picks, resulting in two Super Bowl appearances and a championship. This indicates that under the guidance of Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead, the Rams were justified in going all-in.
However, the situation has changed. The Rams’ roster is now thinner due to the significant number of draft picks they’ve traded away and the top-heavy nature of the team. They currently hold a 3-4 record and face a critical juncture in the season as the trade deadline looms. Sean McVay has already stated that the team may not have the resources to be as aggressive as in previous years. When asked about this, Aaron Donald avoided giving a direct answer, stating that such decisions are not his responsibility. He emphasized that his primary focus is playing football, and he leaves the team’s strategic decisions to the management.
