After receiving interest from the Warrington Wolves in the Super League and the Wests Tigers in the NRL, Justin Olam is reportedly attracting the attention of yet another club.
At the end of the previous season, the Melbourne Storm center found himself lower in the team’s hierarchy and only made an appearance in the Preliminary Final against the Penrith Panthers due to injuries among other squad members. His lackluster performance led to him playing in six matches for the Storm’s feeder club, the Sunshine Coast Falcons, in the 2023 Hostplus Cup, while Marion Seve and Young Tonumaipea were chosen ahead of him.
Reports suggest that the St Helens RLFC, another Super League club, is now entering the race to secure Olam’s services. However, it’s important to note that Olam is under contract with the Storm until the conclusion of the 2026 season, and any potential move would require the Storm’s willingness to release him. This can only happen after November 1, 2025, as Olam is not allowed to negotiate with rival clubs until then.
In a related development, earlier this month, there were discussions of a potential player swap involving Olam and the Wests Tigers’ back rower, Shawn Blore. It’s worth mentioning that such player swaps have occurred between the two clubs in the past, with Harry Grant and Paul Momirovski being part of a swap in 2020.
