‘Huge boost’ Concrete return date finally set for Ross Stewart after been sidelined for a long time

The Saints’ manager, Russell Martin, expressed optimism regarding the potential debut of their summer signing, Ross Stewart, within the next two weeks. Stewart, a 27-year-old striker, joined the club on deadline day but has been sidelined due to an Achilles injury he underwent surgery for in January.

Stewart, a Scotland international who scored 10 goals in 13 Championship matches last season, has been working diligently to regain his fitness at Staplewood. He was present at St. Mary’s, sitting alongside the injured captain Jack Stephens, during his team’s 3-1 victory over Birmingham City on Sunday.

The Saints are scheduled to play Millwall in their next fixture, followed by a match against West Bromwich Albion in Southampton. Martin disclosed that he anticipates Stewart making his return in one of these upcoming games, stating, “He’s very close. If not next week, hopefully, it will be the West Brom game.”

In the meantime, there is a possibility that Che Adams, who missed the previous Saturday’s victory due to an injury sustained at Preston North End, could also return around the same time. Martin provided more insight, saying, “I don’t believe it will be a lengthy absence. We’re aiming to have him back for the next week, but if not, it should be the week after.”

In their recent match against Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City, Martin deployed a front three consisting of Kamaldeen Sulemana, Charly Alcaraz, and Adam Armstrong, with the latter two managing to find the back of the net.
