Jack Clarke sends classy message to Sunderland teammates after match-winning display

After an outstanding performance against Norwich City, Sunderland winger Jack Clarke complimented his teammates for his own personal form.

Clarke scored one goal and assisted on another in a 3-1 victory, with his goal coming from the penalty spot. His assist was particularly beautiful, slipping past a couple players before laying it on the line for Dan Neil to score.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Black Cats, who are now one point out of the playoffs in eighth place.

22-year-old thanks his teammates

Clarke was effusive in his gratitude for his colleagues after the victory, speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle.

“That’s because of the players I’m playing with and the system – I have a lot of freedom when I’m playing and the team creates a lot of opportunities.” I’m putting a few away, which is a tribute to them [his teammates] and the effort that the staff is doing.”

“Thankfully, I keep putting them away, so I’m happy about that, but I’m sure someone else will want to take one at some point.” But for the time being, it’s just me, and I’m fairly confident with the ball.”

He leads the Championship in scoring, with nine goals and an assist in 14 games.

The 22-year-old joined the Stadium of Light on a permanent basis last summer from Tottenham for an unknown price, after spending the previous season on loan with the club.

He has already scored as many goals as he did last season, but he also has 11 assists.

This season, the former England under-20 international has visibly modified his game, playing much more forward.

If he continues on his current path, there is no reason why he cannot score at least twenty goals.
