Abdul Fatawu was accused of gamesmanship by QPR’s fired manager Gareth Ainsworth for his role in Andre Dozzell’s red card.

Harry Winks’ late goal helped City defeat the Championship relegation contenders 2-1, even though the home team had been relegated to ten men. Following the first foul, Fatawu stood up and gave Dozzell a push, which caused the City winger to fall to the ground. Although Ainsworth claimed the teenager was being dishonest, he felt his own player was foolish to fall for it.

After the game, Ainsworth told the reporters, “Naivety has cost us.” Later, the Londoners fired him in response to suffering their sixth consecutive defeat. It’s naivety, not stupidity. Andre has only responded in the exact way that Fatawu desired. Although I don’t think the push was strong enough to knock him down, the referee is forced to award a second yellow card because he is now down.

All day, Fatawu was a nuisance, but Stephy Mavididi of the other team scored the opening goal and then set up Winks for the winner. As a result, City continues to lead by 14 points inside the sites of promotion.
