Matt Canada, the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, hasn’t had a great 2023 season. Canada hasn’t been able to get much going for the Steelers offense, and the fanbase has let him know about it, despite Pittsburgh’s current record of 4-3, good for second place in the AFC North.
“Fire Canada” chants have been a regular feature of Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins games, as well as other NHL games attended by Canadians.
Canada just acknowledged the criticism he has been receiving during a press conference with a humorous moment.
#Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada spoke to the media earlier today when a phone dropped off of a stand.
“I didn’t touch that, but somehow somebody will find a way to say I did.”

A phone that appeared to be recording Canada talk slid off its stand while he was interacting with reporters, and Canada leaned down to retrieve it.
Canada grabbed up the phone and said, “I didn’t touch that, but somehow somebody will find a way to say I did.”
It’s encouraging to see Matt Canada, who has had a very difficult season for both himself and the Steelers offense, find a little humor in the situation. Even though Pittsburgh was playing at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they managed to score only ten points in their last game.
Of course, the team’s lackluster offensive performance in 2023 isn’t only attributable to Canada’s schematics; the quarterback position and the skill positions aren’t exactly loaded with talent. Fans will, however, still like to see the squad produce more offensively when they play the Tennessee Titans on November 2.
