As we advanced to the Carabao Cup quarterfinals, club legend Alan Shearer and co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi went to Twitter in the wake of yesterday night’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United.
Alan Shearer: “The Toon has complete dominance.” Outstanding from beginning to end by each and every participant. One squad is competing for the badge, while the other is a total disaster. TOON DOLL.
“Amazing performance by the lads, so proud of the resilience and fight,” said Mehrdad Ghodoussi. We are a single, cohesive group. A special thank you goes out to the away supporters as well; they sang their hearts out and the team is very grateful for their support.
Shearer has a point. Everyone contributed, and three squad members who are rarely seen, Paul Dummett, Emil Krafth, and Matt Ritchie, all put up outstanding performances. “One team playing for the badge, the other team a complete mess” was the best way to put it.
Ghodoussi’s notion of “unity” seemed fitting. Last night, just one united looked up for the fight and a proper team. He was also right to commend the almost 7,000 Geordies who filled Old Trafford with noise during the whole match.
several advantages, several triumphs, and a gratifying victory over a pitiful Manchester United team that was unable to handle our vigor, determination, planning, and teamwork.
Incredible performance by the lads, so proud of the resilience and fight. We are united, we are one. ????????????????@NUFC #nufc #carabaocup also a special thanks to the away fans, you sang your hearts out – your support means everything to the team. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Igdwx6KB6f
