‘Proud’ – Newcastle United star reacts to historic moment against Man Utd

One Magpies star was “proud” of Newcastle United’s victory over Manchester United.

Sean Longstaff captained Newcastle United at Old Trafford in his 150th game for the team he grew up with. Longstaff was asked to lead the team on a night that would be remembered for the Magpies, without the presence of Jamaal Lascelles and Kieran Trippier.

It should come as no surprise that the 26-year-old delivered another excellent performance in the center of the park to assist a side that was rotated to a comfortable victory. For the 7,000 fans who made the trip, it was just another unforgettable evening in a season full of unforgettable matches, and Longstaff’s first-ever captaincy will live on forever.

After the game, Longstaff posted on X, saying, “I’m proud to have played 150 games for my boyhood club.” Being the team captain and leading them to the next round is an honor!

The Magpies will play Chelsea, led by Mauricio Pochettino, at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming round, which promises to be another challenging away test. On Wednesday night, the Blues advanced by defeating Blackburn Rovers, who play in the Championship.
