Nick Nurse Gives Verdict on Key Star

Nick Nurse commends the veteran forward of the Sixers, Tobias Harris, for his adaptability and excellence in different roles during his time with the team. Previously, Harris had adjusted his game to become a reliable three-and-D wing due to the arrival of James Harden and the rise of Tyrese Maxey. However, in the first four games of the current season, he has reverted to performing at an almost All-Star level. Now functioning as the third option behind Embiid and Maxey, Harris is averaging 20 points per game. In the Sixers’ recent victory against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, he scored 23 points while maintaining an impressive shooting percentage of nearly 60% from the field.

What’s particularly noteworthy about Harris’s performance this season is his remarkable efficiency. He is currently shooting at a stellar 63.8% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc, with over four attempts per game.

After the Sixers secured a victory over Toronto, Nick Nurse was questioned about the reasons behind Tobias Harris’ impressive performance. Nurse believes that Harris has been displaying a heightened level of aggressiveness on the offensive side of the court, effectively utilizing his entire skill set.

Nurse expressed, “First and foremost, I believe he’s displaying increased aggression, particularly when transitioning from defense to offense, and he’s confidently taking the initiative. He’s also been effective in the post, and it doesn’t necessarily require a significant size mismatch for him to succeed. Even against opponents of his stature, he possesses a strong post-up game… Both of these aspects have proven to be efficient areas for him to operate in, and he’s excelling in these areas.”

Before the Sixers acquired James Harden, Harris was averaging close to 19 points per game. As the revamped Sixers gear up for the challenges ahead, they’ll rely on this consistent level of performance from Harris alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Most notably, Harris appears fully prepared to resume his role as one of the primary offensive contributors.
