Pundit Carlton Palmer shares verdict on ‘consistent’ west brom star, he’s ‘vital’ to West Brom play-off aspirations

Carlton Palmer emphasizes the importance of West Brom maintaining the consistent performance of Grady Diangana, particularly in terms of his fitness and goal-scoring ability, if they hope to achieve their goal of making it to the Championship play-offs. In their recent match against the Sky Blues on October 30th, both Diangana and Thomas-Asante scored, securing a 2-0 victory for Albion, which pushed them up to fifth place in the table before the upcoming weekend fixtures.

Diangana, the DR Congo international, has been in outstanding form recently, netting two goals and providing one assist in his last four starts for the club. Palmer stresses that it is crucial for Diangana to continue delivering such performances to enhance their chances of securing a spot in the play-offs. Palmer told Football League World on November 2nd that Grady Diangana is currently in excellent form for West Brom and has been contributing crucial goals, especially with injuries affecting their forwards, like Daryl Dike. Diangana has demonstrated consistency over the past few seasons, amassing 41 appearances in the 2021-22 season and 31 appearances in the previous season. Therefore, his fitness and continued performance are pivotal for West Brom as they aim for a play-off position or better this season.

Crucial time

“Diangana is currently experiencing a remarkable resurgence in form during his time at West Brom, which comes at a crucial juncture for both head coach Corberan and the entire club. The former West Ham winger has notched goals in each of his last two Championship outings for West Brom, and he also provided an assist for John Swift’s goal in a match against Birmingham four games ago. Beyond his direct contributions to scoring, Diangana is demonstrating the qualities that prompted the club to secure his permanent transfer from West Ham three years ago.

Historically, the DR Congo international has been linked to inconsistency during his tenure at the Hawthorns, making it all the more essential for Corberan to maintain his motivation and performance, especially given the current injury issues plaguing the team. When Diangana is in this kind of form, he becomes a formidable force on the field and has the potential to be a pivotal figure for the club if they find themselves in a similar position as Christmas and New Year approach.

One pressing concern for Diangana is his fitness, particularly with the drop in temperature and an increasingly crowded fixture list, making it a matter of significant consideration for Corberan.”
