West Brom key player faced three month first-team absence due to potential surgery

Dr Rajpal Brar stated that Semi Ajayi, a defender for West Brom, may miss three months of action if his injury was more serious.

He was earlier ruled out due to damage to his ankle ligaments, so the injury specialist responds to his circumstances.

Carlos Corberan, however, disclosed that he had trained with the team on Thursday, November 2, and that he was well during it ahead of the Hull City match on November 5.

Regarding Kipre’s injury, Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapist, exclusively spoke with West Brom News.

It wasn’t serious, as the management has now stated that he’s returned to proper training.

But prior to that, it was incredibly hard to say without knowing about the tests he had taken or his symptoms.

“The worst case scenario for a lateral ankle sprain was usually four to six weeks off, which may increase to eight weeks if there was a fracture.

“The worst case was over three months with surgery needed to stabilise if it was a high ankle sprain.”

With eight league games so far this season, the 29-year-old has established himself as a staple in the Baggies defense.

He has even scored a rare goal and provided an assist, thus he has benefited Corberan’s team in two ways.

At the end of September, Ajayi also missed a month of action, but he now seems fully recovered.
