Al Horford Sends Strong Message on New Celtics Role

On November 4, Al Horford made his first start for the Boston Celtics, stepping in for Derrick White in a game against the Brooklyn Nets. Following the Celtics’ victory, Horford spoke with CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning about his approach to his new role coming off the bench. He emphasized the importance of establishing the pace of the game and bringing energy when he enters as a substitute, ensuring that the team’s intensity remains high and builds on what the starting unit accomplished.

Despite his new role, Horford’s competitive spirit remains strong, and he aims to impact winning and help the team. He noted that he often shares the floor with other key players, making it feel less like a traditional second unit.

Jayson Tatum praised Al Horford for his impact on his career, describing him as one of his favorite teammates and a significant factor in his success. The two players have had a successful partnership, reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2019 and making the NBA Finals in 2022. Their chemistry as teammates is evident, and their separation led to speculation about what might have been for the Celtics had they not parted ways. Furthermore, Horford congratulated Tatum for reaching 10,000 points, highlighting the mutual admiration between the two players and the positive influence Horford has had on the team’s success.
