Eddie Howe will only have 16 senior players available for tonight’s Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie. Three of those players are goalkeepers. The other two are injured.
Those out due to injury or suspension include Dan Burn (back), Matt Targett (hamstring), Alexander Isak (groin), Jacob Murphy (dislocated shoulder), Elliot Anderson (back), Sven Botman (knee), Sandro Tonali (suspension), and Harvey Barnes (foot).
Additionally, Javier Manquillo (who is also out due to a groin injury), Emil Krafth, Matt Ritchie, Mark Gillespie, and Javier Manquillo were not included in Newcastle’s official 23-man Champions League roster that was revealed in September, making all four of them ineligible.
Because of this, U21 players Ben Parkinson and Lucas De Bolle were seen on Monday traveling to Germany with Lewis Miley. Additionally, a few hours before the team left for Dortmund, 20-year-old rookie Amadou Diallo was seen practicing with the senior team.
Pope, Dubravka, Karius – Livramento, Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Dummett, Hall – Guimaraes, Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff – Almiron, Wilson, Gordon are among Newcastle’s sixteen senior players.
Three of Newcastle’s sixteen senior players will be goalkeepers when they play here in Dortmund tomorrow night.
With Eddie Howe reduced to the absolute minimum, there will be some young players on the bench.
That brings the total number of injured, suspended, and non-registered #NUFC players to seven.
