The Detroit Lions resumed their practice sessions in preparation for their Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Notably, Frank Ragnow, David Montgomery, and Jonah Jackson, who had all been sidelined in Week 8, returned to the team’s practice facility in Allen Park. Both Montgomery and Jackson had missed several previous games. Additionally, the newly acquired Lions wide receiver, Donovan Peoples-Jones, was seen practicing while wearing his new jersey with the number 19.
During his press conference on Monday, head coach Dan Campbell provided positive updates on the status of these three players. It’s worth noting that all 53 players on the active roster were present and participating in the portion of practice that was open to the media.
The team’s leader, who is in his third year, discussed the advantages of having a bye week on Monday. Apart from providing the players with a chance to rest and recover, it also allowed the coaching staff to assess the team’s strengths and weaknesses. He mentioned, “Yeah, well, I would say the bye helps you because you’ve already… I don’t know how much tonight’s game, I mean we’ll certainly look at that, but it’s… the primary work is already done.” He further explained that they have had eight games to observe the team, and there won’t be significant changes to their approach. They will review a few things to confirm their findings, but the bye week offers them the luxury of catching up and refining their strategies.
Additionally, I emphasized to the staff that I didn’t want us to skip the process of self-assessment and putting in the necessary work today. It’s crucial for our team to understand that our focus should always be on us, our own performance. So, tomorrow, we’ll take a deep dive into analyzing the Chargers as they come in, and we’ll begin our preparations for them.
