“Marti Cifuentes can…” – Shaun Wright-Phillips makes bold QPR claim

Former Queens Park Rangers player Shaun Wright-Phillips has expressed his belief that his former team could secure a place in the play-offs under their new manager, Marti Cifuentes. The appointment of the Spaniard came as a surprise to some, as he has no prior experience managing in the Championship.

However, Cifuentes has an impressive managerial track record from his time in Spain, Norway, and Sweden. The QPR leadership has placed their trust in him to lead the club to a brighter future. Wright-Phillips’ claim suggests optimism about the potential success Cifuentes might bring to the team.

How did QPR perform in Marti Cifuentes’ first game in charge?

Marti Cifuentes assumed control of a struggling QPR team that had gone nine league games without a win, managing to secure only two points out of a possible 27 during that stretch.

In his debut match, they faced fellow strugglers Rotherham United, who were just one spot ahead of QPR in the standings. Cifuentes made several changes to the starting lineup, introducing players who made a favorable impression.

QPR performed well, taking the lead in the 50th minute thanks to Ilias Chair and seemed poised to end their winless streak.

However, in the 70th minute, Georgie Kelly scored an equalizer, resulting in a draw. As a result, the West Londoners continue to occupy a position in the bottom three of the league and remain six points adrift of safety.
