Newcastle United star updates on ‘completely bizarre’ injury as Howe assesses options

“Matt Targett is determined to make a strong comeback after undergoing surgery for his hamstring injury sustained at Manchester United. Targett expressed his bafflement at the injury’s unusual nature but is now fully focused on his rehabilitation following a successful surgery.

Announcement imminent as Matt Targett takes key step towards confirming Newcastle decision

Head coach Eddie Howe recently mentioned that Targett could be sidelined for up to three months. Targett took to social media today, still struggling to comprehend the injury, especially considering how well he felt before the United game. He described it as a completely bizarre injury that occurred within a few minutes of the match. However, he mentioned that the surgery went well, and he is resolute in his determination to return in better form than ever.

Unfortunately, Dan Burn’s back injury, sustained in the weekend victory over Arsenal, added to Howe’s injury concerns, and he is expected to be out of action for a couple of months. This has forced Howe to make adjustments to his previously settled defensive lineup.

During the match at Dortmund, Lewis Hall initially started at left-back but was substituted at half-time after receiving a yellow card in a challenging first 45 minutes. In the second half, Howe moved Tino Livramento, who initially started in an attacking role, back into defense and placed Kieran Trippier at left-back. This arrangement is likely to continue in the upcoming match against Bournemouth on Saturday evening.”
