Ally McCoist makes strong Newcastle ‘cup’ prediction after CL loss

The former Rangers hero claimed that it is “only a matter of time” for the Magpies to win a trophy under Eddie Howe, saying so in an interview with Alan Brazil on talkSPORT.

The previous season, the Magpies advanced to the Carabao Cup finals, however they were defeated by Manchester United. After they advance to the quarterfinals and take on Chelsea, they have a strong chance of taking home the trophy this time.

McCoist said on talkSPORT that “they will win a cup within the next couple of seasons.”

The atmosphere is lively. Sincere happiness for Newcastle supporters. Yes, I do believe it is just a question of time.

Strong prediction

They clinched a spot in last season’s Champions League and now have their sights set on advancing to the knockout stages of the prestigious European competition. However, their qualification prospects took a hit with a 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the recent midweek match.

Facing upcoming challenges against AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, the team will need a monumental effort to progress to the next round. While the Carabao Cup remains their best chance at winning a trophy this season, Newcastle, currently sixth in the table with 20 points after a shaky start, is eyeing a top-four finish once again.

Despite the hardships endured by Newcastle fans during the Mike Ashley era, there’s currently a sense of optimism and positivity surrounding the club.
