Atlanta Falcons Coach Arthur Smith Goes On Rant On Lack Of Bijan Robinson Red Zone Touches

Fans and fantasy owners of the Atlanta Falcons have expressed dissatisfaction with the limited involvement of rookie running back Bijan Robinson, particularly in the red zone, despite being the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and considered the most talented player on the offense.

In a recent development, Falcons coach Arthur Smith addressed concerns about Robinson’s usage in the red zone and his overall role in the game plan during a five-minute diatribe on Wednesday. It seems like there’s a need for clarity and explanation regarding Robinson’s role within the team.

It sounds like Arthur Smith’s communication skills could use a bit of work. In addressing concerns about the team’s red zone performance, he highlighted their less-than-impressive touchdown conversion rate, currently tied for 19th in the league. Given the offensive firepower with players like Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, the results appear disappointing.

The focus on Robinson’s usage is particularly frustrating for fans and fantasy owners. Despite being a top-ten pick and considered one of the best running back prospects in the last decade, Robinson is averaging just 18.7 touches per game through eight games. The limited number of carries and goal line touches going to Tyler Allgeier instead of Robinson raises eyebrows, especially considering Robinson’s talent.

Despite these issues, the Falcons, with a 4-5 record, are still in contention for a playoff spot in the NFC South. However, addressing red zone inefficiencies and giving Robinson more opportunities could be crucial for their postseason aspirations.
