David Prutton ‘boldly’ predicts West Brom vs Southampton result

According to David Prutton, West Brom and Southampton are expected to play to a score draw at St. Mary’s this weekend since they both have “plenty of confidence” going into the match.

The pundit, who included both the Baggies and the Saints in the debate at the top of the Championship in his Sky Sports column on November 9, predicted that an exciting 2-2 final score would come from the “quality” that will be “on show” on Saturday, November 11.

Russell Martin’s team, who have won their last seven league games, is one point and one spot ahead of West Brom going into the match.

Prutton stated: “Southampton is right back in the thick of the chase group after their crucial, late victory at Millwall last weekend.

“West Brom is a different viewpoint in the discussion. They are only one point behind Southampton and have won three straight games. They’ll be full of confidence, but I believe this will be a draw because of the talent on display.

Since Martin’s position looked to be in jeopardy earlier in the season, the hosts may have significantly improved matters, but Carlos Corberan’s club is also playing well.

Three straight wins are always impressive, particularly in a competition as unpredictable as the Championship. This is especially true given the difficulties West Brom has faced lately.

The three Premier League teams that were demoted in the summer are beginning to appear dire, with Leeds United having only recently put an end to Leicester City’s incredible run of success.

It will undoubtedly be difficult to overcome the third team in that group in Southampton, considering the financial strength that the clubs maintain even after the drop.

Contrarily, Corberan must function without the likes of Josh Maja, John Swift, and Daryl Dike at his disposal. However, with Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante, the attacking tandem, in fine form, he will be anticipating another successful outcome on the south coast.

Positively, the manager appears to be planning to remove a few players from the long list of injuries after the international break [Birmingham Mail, 9 November]. If he can keep up this momentum going into it, his confidence will only rise for the hectic last stretch before Christmas.
