Paul Merson has predicted the score for Saturday’s Eddie Howe Derby between Newcastle United and Bournemouth.
This would normally be a ‘nothing’ fixture, but with the old Bournemouth contingent now at Newcastle, it has a bit of added flavor.
Eddie Howe sends his Newcastle team back to the South Coast to inflict more agony on Bournemouth, who have struggled to find their feet this season. But that’s what happens when you fire a decent manager after he keeps you in the league.
Paul Merson is expecting goals down at Bournemouth
Paul Merson’s weekly column for Sportskeeda has gone a little overboard with his score prediction.
We could see this being a rout if Newcastle were at full strength, but with all of the injuries and exhausted players, it may not be so simple.
However, Paul Merson does not believe it will be a problem.
Merson predicts a comfortable win for Newcastle
“Newcastle has already played some tough games this season.” In the early parts of the new season, they have faced several top teams. Their fixtures have not been kind to them. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester City have enjoyed a good mix of fixtures.
“However, the Magpies have had a run of really tough games followed by relatively easy ones.” So when they’re up against it, they’re up against it big time. Bournemouth are struggling this season.
“They were thrashed by Manchester City last weekend, and I don’t think they’ll pose much of a threat to Newcastle this weekend.”
“Prediction: Bournemouth 0-3 Newcastle United” We’d be ecstatic if Merse is correct; a comfortable win like this is precisely what we need after Wednesday. Kick-off is at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11th.
