Due to hamstring injuries, the two starting wingers for the United States, Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah, will miss their team’s quarterfinal matchup against Trinidad & Tobago in the CONCACAF Nations League. They go to the sidelines to join captain Tyler Adams.
Due to a left hamstring strain, Pulisic had to leave Tuesday’s Champions League match between AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain during injury time. Weah hasn’t played for Juventus since October 28 due to a right hamstring injury. He is the son of former FIFA Player of the Year and current President of Liberia, George Weah.

JANUARY — Without two of its best attackers, the United States will attempt to qualify for the Copa America tournament the following year.
Coach of the United States Gregg Berhalter stated on Thursday, “We see them on track to get back to play soon.” “But it’s too short of a deadline, so they won’t be involved.”
Adams, who hasn’t played since March, underwent surgery on his right hamstring for the second time last month and isn’t anticipated to return to the field until 2024.
In the opening competitive game of Berhalter’s second term, the United States takes on Trinidad in Austin, Texas, on November 16. Four days later, on November 35, the 34th anniversary of the team’s victory there on Paul Caligiuri’s goal that sent the United States to the World Cup for the first time in forty years, the Americans play the Soca Warriors in Port-of-Spain. The two-leg total-goals series winner receives spots in the 16-nation field for Copa America, to be held in the United the South American title,States next summer, and the Nations League semifinals in March.
Out of the 24 players selected for the exhibition matches against Germany and Ghana last month, twenty are included on the roster. Left back Antonee Robinson, midfielders Malik Tillman and Paxten Aaronson, and backup goalie Gaga Slonina join them. Tillman was injured after being initially selected last month.
Aaronson, a 20-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt player who debuted in the United States in January, was added to the squad alongside his 23-year-old brother Brenden, marking their first international team together.
“A winger similar to Christian in the fact that he gets in the penalty box and he’s dangerous in front of goal,” Berhalter stated. “There are numerous indicators that indicate he will be a great player in the future, so now is the perfect time to give Give him a chance.”
Gio Reyna, a midfielder, may see additional playing time after playing 45 minutes in each of the national team’s games last month while recovering from a fractured leg.
“What the next step looks like is yet to be determined, but we can certainly envision him being on the field and us being able to push his minutes,” Berhalter stated.
Only one player, defender Miles Robinson, is a member of Major League Soccer. New England left back DeJuan Jones was left off the roster.
Goalkeeper preference Matt Turner was benched by Nottingham Forest for last Sunday’s Premier League game against Aston Villa in favor of Odysseas Vlachodimos, a Greek goalkeeper. Ethan Horvath hasn’t participated in a first-team game this season and isn’t on Forest’s active roster.
“Ethan’s situation is temporary, and we hope in the winter things will be sorted out where he will start to get game time,” Berhalter stated. “I owned An exchange with Matt. I gave him a call right away, and this is what it means to be in the world’s greatest league, isn’t it? All of this is, after all, a player’s journey. There are highs and lows. And for him, the key is having the mental fortitude to get through this.”
