QPR boss Cifuentes makes Loftus Road admission ahead of Bristol City clash

Marti Cifuentes believes his QPR team needs to connect with their fans at Loftus Road in order to end their dismal home record.

The west Londoners have won just one of their previous 20 home games, contributing to their current position at the bottom of the Championship table, six points from safety.

There were positive signs of progress, however, as Cifuentes salvaged a 1-1 draw at Rotherham United in his debut game as manager, ending a run of six successive defeats.

He is now urging his teammates to make his first game in the Loftus Road dugout unforgettable.

“It is going to be very exciting,” Cifuentes said. “It is something I have been looking forward to over the whole week.

Establishing a strong connection with the fans is a top priority for us. We aim to make them proud of our playing style and our overall approach to the game. The ultimate goal is to secure positive results and harness the energy that our fans bring to Loftus Road to our advantage.

Our ambition is to create an intimidating atmosphere for opponents, making Loftus Road a challenging venue for visiting teams. We want our opponents to sense that earning points at our home ground requires a formidable effort. This is the mindset we aspire to instill, starting with our upcoming match against Bristol City.

Interestingly, Bristol City will also be led by a new manager, Liam Manning, who recently took over from Nigel Pearson. Despite Manning’s limited time with the team, we acknowledge the challenge of preparing for their style of play. While recognizing their potential adjustments, our primary focus remains on our own performance.

In this unique situation, where a new manager has only had a few days with the squad, we believe in concentrating on our strengths and strategies. The players have shown great energy and enthusiasm during our training sessions, demonstrating a positive reception to our concepts. This week’s preparation has been excellent, and we are optimistic about the team’s response on the field.
