Carson Wentz revealed the team he Reached Out To Before Signing With Rams

After being without a team for the first half of the 2023 season, veteran quarterback Carson Wentz finally landed a deal with the Los Angeles Rams a few days ago.

Rams starting signal-caller Matthew Stafford is currently dealing with an injured thumb, so the team brought in Wentz as an insurance policy in case their No. 1 quarterback is unable to play in Week 11 when the team returns from their bye.

Before signing with Los Angeles, Wentz and his camp apparently reached out to a different team that could currently use a quarterback upgrade, the New York Jets.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, the free-agent signal-caller reached out to the Jets right before signing with the Rams, but New York informed him that they are sticking with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback (via Ian Rapoport on Twitter).

Wentz hasn’t played in an NFL game since Week 17 of last season when he was a member of the Washington Commanders.

During his one year with the Commanders in 2022, he completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 1,755 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, in addition to rushing for 86 yards and another score.

Before ending up with Washington, Wentz had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, who selected him with the second overall pick back in the 2016 NFL Draft.

In 2017, Wentz was playing at an MVP level, and he was living up to the expectations that came with being a top-five draft pick.

But then he tore his ACL mid-way through the season, and he’s really never been the same ever since.

Could this opportunity with the Rams be one of Wentz’s last chances to remain in the NFL?
