Fantastic player prefers January move to Newcastle United Amid ‘Strong’ interest from PL rival

Despite being linked with Liverpool, Kalvin Phillips apparently favors a January move to Newcastle United.

According to CalcioMercato, the Manchester City benchwarmer is hopeful of moving to St. James Park, despite the fact that Liverpool and Juventus are both interested in Phillips.
Gareth Southgate has praised the England international as a ‘great’ player, and he has been linked with Liverpool for quite some time, with a January move from the Reds looking likely.

However, it appears that the fight to sign Phillips will now come down to Newcastle or Juventus, with the Magpies leading the way.

Losing Phillips isn’t the end of the world for Liverpool, though the 27-year-old moving for another Premier League foe in Newcastle isn’t ideal.

Indeed, had Phillips not signed Liverpool, the Reds would have loved to see him move abroad, and Eddie Howe acquiring the England star might be a nightmare situation.

Phillips snubbing Liverpool for Newcastle is a big blow

Despite barely appearing for City in the last year, Phillips definitely has a lot left in the tank, which is why the midfielder potentially joining Newcastle is a blow for Liverpool.

Phillips, a former Leeds United midfielder, is one of the greatest defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and under a manager like Howe, he may take his game to the next level.

As a result, Newcastle might become a headache for Liverpool once more, with the Toon becoming a contender for the top four if Phillips signs.
