Gary Lineker reacts to West Brom fan footage in 2-1 defeat v Southampton
Gary Lineker was left in fits of laughter after footage emerged of a sleeping West Brom fan during the 2-1 defeat against Southampton.
The Baggies fell to a cruel loss on Saturday 11 November, with Adam Armstrong scoring the winner after Kyle Bartley had got the away side back on level terms at St Mary’s.
Footage shared by Men in Blazers showed the West Brom fan being woken up as the Southampton support chanted after spotting him dreaming away.
Lineker reacted to the video on his personal X account, sharing the footage with two laughter emojis ahead of him presenting Match of the Day on Saturday.
Boring?
West Brom were desperately unlucky to leave with nothing from Southampton, who are supposed to be one of the Championship’s bang-in-form sides.
Maybe luck has been on their side for weeks with performances like that, as the Baggies hit the woodwork numerous times and wasted so many chances.
Carlos Corberan will be raging inside about the result, but there isn’t much more he will be able to demand from his players, who are performing at such a high level right now.
The fans appreciated that effort too, and they applauded every last player off the park at the full-time whistle, where this fan will likely have been awake.
Hopefully, after the international break, the team can give these fans, and that one in particular, a few more wins to cheer about as another positive segment of the season was ticked off.
This is what the Championship is all about though, and the fans know that there is a long way still to go.
