The Miami Dolphins have reinforced their roster speed by adding Anthony Schwartz, a swift receiver who clocked a 4.25 40-time during the draft process. Schwartz, previously with the Cleveland Browns as a 2021 third-round pick from Auburn, joins the practice squad.
The Dolphins, grappling with injuries to key receivers like Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, and Braxton Berrios, anticipate benefiting from Schwartz’s speed and return capabilities in the latter part of the season. Schwartz, with 25 games under his belt, secured 14 receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown in his Cleveland tenure, also showcasing versatility with 96 rushing yards and a score on 10 carries. His addition becomes crucial as the Dolphins navigate injuries, including Waddle’s persistent knee issues and other receivers like River Cracraft returning from injury. Cracraft, aiming for a return to the 53-man roster, adds depth, and Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel expresses optimism about his progress. Meanwhile, Waddle continues to battle through injuries, with his recent knee problem adding to the challenges of the 2023 season. Chase Claypool, acquired via trade, also contends with a lingering knee injury. The Dolphins’ emphasis on speed remains evident in their strategic roster moves.
