Breaking news: Sunderland AFC Comfirm Contract extention of another super star

Sunderland AFC is thrilled to announce the extension of Patrick Roberts’ contract at the Stadium of Light. The 26-year-old has committed to the club until the summer of 2026, with an additional Club option for another year.

Having joined Sunderland in January 2022, Roberts made an immediate impact, featuring in 17 games as the Black Cats secured promotion to the Sky Bet Championship through the EFL Play-Offs. Notably, he scored a dramatic last-minute winner against Sheffield Wednesday in the semi-finals and delivered a standout performance in the victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley Stadium.

Throughout Sunderland’s return to the second tier, Roberts remained a constant presence, contributing five goals and seven assists in 42 league appearances, helping the team secure a top-six finish.

In the current campaign, the former Fulham and Manchester City winger has made 14 appearances, bringing his total club appearances to 79.

Expressing his satisfaction after signing the new contract, Roberts stated, “I’ve enjoyed every moment of being here, and I’m delighted to get the deal done. The supporters have been great, and it’s been an enjoyable journey so far. Sunderland is a huge club with huge expectations – I can’t wait for the next few years together and hopefully more success along the way.”
