An interesting tweet appeared on my account, stating that the Newcastle United board convened following their loss to Bournemouth, and they concluded Eddie Howe had reached his limit in leading the team.
This is a true story from the modern media.
It doesn’t matter if the allegations made by the Newcastle United board are accurate or not—what matters is who the “sports journalist” is who is covering the issue.
The reason I saw the story was that it had been retweeted by well-known individuals who are real.
I’m still not sure what to think, honestly.
According to Tony Campari’s Twitter bio, “Sports journalist (and a little personal life) for AP, Reuters, and Eco,” the accusations originated from him. The occasional podder from Milano Alumini. A friendly person’s friend.
On Twitter, November 12, 2023, Tony Campari posted:
NEW: The Newcastle board met yesterday night to discuss Eddie Howe’s future as head coach. Head figures all agree that he has taken the club as far as he can. There won’t be a decision made right away in the coming days, but if the results hold up, it might in the next weeks. More will come.

‘MORE: Zinedine and Unai Emery of the #AVFC were proposed as Howe’s potential successors Zaida. No preference between the two has been confirmed as of yet.
‘Newcastle board convene and conclude Eddie Howe taken club far as he can’ is a confusing statement to grasp.

“It saddens me that this much abuse has come from me just doing my job.” A specific fandom despises and despises journalists that uphold integrity in their reporting, as you can see if you go through the quote tweets and comments. Some would argue that it actually makes them more in line with the club’s owners. #BeKind. Anthony.
I am not abusing anyone right now—just like any other regular person—but I’m still not really clear what this is all about.
When I heard the name “Tony Campari,” my initial impression was of Swiss Toni and Julio Geordio, a made-up name for fun or mischief, but you never know these days.
If he is a true sports writer with inside information about a Newcastle United board meeting and the decision to fire Eddie Howe for pushing the team/club as far as he can, then great. Surely, instead of merely sharing the information for free on Twitter to try and garner some attention, “Tony” would be writing up a global exclusive for one of the media outlets he claims to work for (and get paid handsomely by, no doubt).
“Sports journalist (and a little personal life) for AP, Reuters, and Eco. Milano Alumini Occasional Podder,” reads his Twitter bio, as I said before. A friendly person’s friend.
I’ve looked everywhere on the internet, but I haven’t seen any articles written by Tony Campari for Reuters, AP, or any other publication. However, that isn’t necessarily entirely conclusive in these peculiar modern media times. According to the comments on his Twitter timeline, many people are taking him and the situation seriously, while some believe Newcastle United is coming to an end.
It goes without saying that I believe and am aware of no account from anyone stating the Newcastle United board has determined Eddie Howe has reached his limit in this situation. A point where NUFC has been doing better than any Premier League team over the last ten weeks, and after Almiron was injured, 12 players were unable to play at Bournemouth had to leave the game early.
It is improbable that “Tony” or any other media, real or imagined, would have knowledge of a secret Newcastle United board meeting AND what was discussed and decided, given how closely things are controlled at Newcastle United these days in terms of nothing leaking out and no NUFC journalist even knowing before any match which players are / aren’t available.
These days, you can be certain that any information that is “leaked” from Newcastle United’s board level is done so on purpose. The team uses reputable journalists to publish any “leak” they choose.
