Two stars message to Boston Celtics ahead of second matchup

Before the New York Knicks and C play each other on November 13, the second meeting of the season between the Atlantic Division rivals, Julius Randle had a message for the Boston Celtics. He told them that NY owed them a receipt for the green team’s opening-night victory.

Randle remarked, “We owe ’em one” (h/t New York Post). But they make a fantastic team. It will be a battle, so we must prepare, recover [on November 12], and put in our best effort.

Less evocative responses came from RJ Barrett (“Very important game”) and Jalen Brunson (“Be Better”), but emerging Eastern Conference contenders are aware of the significance of their season’s second meeting, which will take place on the TD Garden court.

The Philadelphia 76ers have won every game after the James Harden trade, dominating the Association by a score of 7-0 in November following the move made on Halloween.

It turns out that the scariest part of that day was how the Sixers handled Harden.

The Sixers present a more formidable threat to the Celtics now that Harden is no longer with Philadelphia, and they have already defeated Boston in their season opener. There may not be a team in the league clicking on more cylinders than Philly’s, with a healthy Joel Embiid, a developing star in Tyrese Maxey who has surpassed the 25-point-per-game mark in 2023–24, and excellent tertiary efforts from Tobias Harris (19.9 PPG) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (16.3 PPG)

When the playoffs roll around, Boston has to worry about the Sixers rather than the Knicks, as the Cs may have a legitimate challenge in Philadelphia for the first time since the “Process” period.
