Newcastle United now interested in signing former Tottenham star amid squad struggle

**Newcastle Pin Hopes on Former Tottenham Release Jordan Hackett Amid Squad Struggles**

Newcastle United faces a depleted squad, prompting manager Eddie Howe to consider turning to academy players, as evidenced by the involvement of several youngsters in their recent 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth.

Lewis Miley, aged 17, secured his Premier League debut, while 18-year-old forward Ben Parkinson made his competitive debut. With Alex Murphy and Amadou Diallo on the bench, it underscores the stretched state of Newcastle’s squad.

Upcoming challenges, including a clash with Chelsea on November 25th, present additional issues, particularly in the left-back position due to injuries to Dan Burn and Matt Targett, and Lewis Hall’s ineligibility against his parent club. This leaves Paul Dummett, considered a center-back by Eddie Howe, with potential replacements being Kieran Trippier or Tino Livramento.

In this scenario, 19-year-old defender Jordan Hackett, impressing behind the scenes at St James’ Park, could receive a callup. Highly rated by Newcastle, Hackett joined the club last summer after being released by Tottenham Hotspur. Despite not yet featuring at the senior level, Hackett’s trial performance earned him a contract, and his desire to work with Eddie Howe influenced his decision to sign for Newcastle.

As injuries continue to limit defensive options for Newcastle, Hackett may soon have the opportunity to transition from the academy to the first team, fulfilling the high expectations the club has for the talented teenager.
